Description:

Happy Chooks at 270 Ferry Road

Do you have chooks at home or have considered keeping them? Just not quite sure as to how you should go about it all?

Peter Cutajar or Pete the Plumber/Penguin Pete has been keeping chooks for some time. He has been a participant in a commercial operation and , together with John Sierakowski our resident ‘chook whisperer’, runs the small scale, happy chook co-operative we have at 270 Ferry Road. And, they are pretty good at what they do.

Pete will give you the low down on how to manage your chooks in the best of ways; how to recognise when they are ready to lay; which one is laying (if they are not all doing so); how to maintain them; how to recognise symptoms of any sickness or disease; and, how to build a cheap and practical chicken coop.

He is not quite as spiritual as Alanna Moore and you will not find any fairies in the back garden in his workshop, but he sure gets the job done in a practical and chook friendly manner.

It certainly pays to have a few chooks laying in your back yard. The economics may seem a little disturbing at the beginning but the pay-back period is relatively short. And, the eggs are GREAT!

Then you have the immense pleasure the chooks will give you and your family from having a few friendly fluffy pets to cuddle and observing their sometimes crazy antics on a daily basis.
